I’ve been exploring specific stories of Filipino migration and US relations. I’ve pulled from my parents stories’ and my personal experiences. I started using spoken word within my dances to be more explicit about the stories I was telling. I realized that the more personal I was, the more universal it became. It’s important for Asian Americans to write our own stories. If we don't write our own stories (or sing or dance them, because that’s what Filipinx folks do—we are embodied peoples) our stories will either get erased, or someone else will write it for us.

I want to [re]imagine a world where we all feel safe, and never infringe upon anyone else, but rather, offer a deeper sense of understanding, of unity.
